Please attend our 2016 Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 30th, at 10 AM. We are excited to announce that we have the State of Ohio VFW Department commander Steven Hayes as our guest speaker. In addition, this year we are concentrating on celebrating the 70 anniversary with many talented musicians and singers some who will be dressed for 1946, when the Post was founded. This year, we are also serving our guests a special meal at the Waterloo Fire Department after the show. Last, post members are in the beginning of our fund raising campaign called Seeds of Caring. We will put up a copy of the donation letter this coming week and an address for you to send your generous donation.

THE HENRY RIFLE TRIBUTE TO AMERICAN VETERANS

April 30th, 2016 by

Honoring all those who served.

Nothing about being in the Armed Forces especially being in combat was easy. Those who were there remember oceans, swamps, hedge rows, snow freezing rains hell and high water, sand, broiling heat, jungles, cities, mud huts, thin air in mountains and up in the sky. Nothing was impossible as we had a mission to accomplish. We fought in wars halfway around the world. We came from every corner of the country and out in our ocean islands and the frozen tundras of Alaska, from all walks of life, to fight for freedoms on the other side of the world. We answered the call of duty with valor, courage, honor and commitment. Now that we are officially marking the end of the Vietnam War Gilham – Frank VFW Post 8804 in conjunction with Henry Rifles is proud to introduce Henry’s Military Tribute .22 caliber rifle for Post 8804s raffle. This year Henry is offering this wonderful decorated rifle with its highlighted patina and spectacular look to our post officers and members to make money for the post. We are the only post in perhaps the Great State of Ohio that does not have a bar, a canteen, a full blown restaurant or conference roof. Gilham – Frank officers and members operate out of a 16′ by 24′ old gas station with no running water or bathroom. Those inconveniences are nothing compared to what our comrades endured while serving in the United States armed forces. This year Post 8804 is launching Operation Seeds of Caring our annual fund raising campaign and we are seeking a total donation of $60,000 which is used to support veterans and their families. We encourage each of you to donate to the post and buy raffles. Please send your donation to John Euler Quarter Master VFW Post 8804 4469 Coe Road Albany Ohio 45710. You are encouraged to contact both our FaceBook page and our website to submit comments and how you can get your tickets. We are asking for those of you that are willing to get a Packet of 10 tickets which are to be sold at $10 apiece.

Christmas veteran food donation

December 23rd, 2015 by

Yesterday December 22 2015 Quarter Master John Euler and Commander Kevin Martin of VFW Post 8804 of New Marsh field Ohio picked up a 1/2 ton of donated food from the Food Cupboard in Nelson ville. Post 8804 has operated a philanthropic program called Veterans Meal since 1947. The members obtained 30 huge boxes of food for in need veterans, their families and the widowed. The comment’s we received were very heart felt and warming knowing how much they appreciated what the VFW was doing for them. Today we gave food to two WWII war veteran widows, one Korean war veteran widow, 1 Vietnam combat veteran, a Iron Dome -Desert Storm era Army Veteran, a female Marine Vietnam veteran and another piece time Army veteran. Gilham – Frank VFW Post could actually donate 300 boxes of food if we had it to pass out. Our post members are proud that the founders of Post 8804 started this time honored Christmas tradition and that we hopefully will continue doing so from decades to come. Please consider sending monetary donations to VFW Post 8804. Please contact us if you are able to donate.

2014 Memorial Day service & helicopter honor to veterans

March 5th, 2015 by

Here’s a video of our 2014 Memorial Day Service in New Marshfield, with a helicopter Med flight, flown by a veteran who came to honor our fallen warriors and current veterans. It was our 68th year for the VFW to hold the service. The township has been holding decoration services since 1866, and we have been burying our war dead in Waterloo Township since 1787.
